Sketch Comedy Writing

Comedy, like beauty, is subjective.  We give you the tools to take what you find funny and translate it into the sketch comedy format.  Just like a screenwriting class would help you to learn how to write a screenplay, the ACME Method is about how to write sketches.  We want you to have the best chance at making the audience laugh using your unique brand of funny.  We can only hope that you will use this power for good and not evil...

It's That Thing Your Comedy is Standing On

For some reason, sketch can be a mystery to most writers.  At ACME we teach the ACME METHOD.  The ACME METHOD teaches you how to write sketch comedy using a structured set of writing tools and comedy FOUNDATIONS.  That doesn’t mean you’re limited to writing a specific type of sketch.  Using the ACME METHOD you can write using any kind of humor and you can end up with any kind of sketch.  All we do is show you how to MAXIMIZE your type of humor to make the best sketch possible!

Requirements

There is no audition or previous experience required to participate in this course!

Course Schedule

The course is 11 weeks of 3-hour classes which meet on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM, plus a student performance evening show at the ACME Comedy Theatre.

Enrollment

You can join the Sketch Writing Course at the beginning of any 11-week session.  See the registration page for session start dates.

The tuition for the Sketch Writing Course is $395.  Tuition is due at the time of registration (Please note: school tuition is non-refundable and tuition for missed classes is forfeited).

ACME Comedy Theatre reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment. In such an instance, your entire tuition payment will be refunded.
